Story of Oguama Innocent

Story of Oguama Innocent

On a Sunday service at my local church, an announcement was made requesting for a kidney donor to save a life at the hospital. I had heard heartwarming stories and great strides that are made in kidney transplantations, so I immediately volunteered to be a donor. The next day, I went to the hospital’s transplant unit and made my intentions known. I was asked to think long and hard about it. I however, had no fear or apprehension. There wasn’t a moment of hesitation or indecision. I soon started the testing procedures. I was found out to be a very good candidate and a perfect match to the selected recipient.
On the 8 of December 2017, the surgery was performed and I was soon discharged home in sound health. I haven’t experienced any health challenges from the kidney donation and have since returned to my job.
People ask me why I did this; my only answer is because I can! I see the recipient on a regular basis and to see how much his life has changed; it gives me great satisfaction in what I have done. I absolutely have no regrets. I thank God that I was opportune to save a life.
